"Is There a Message in The Cross for Me?"
Dr. Shane Stutzman
As we approach the Easter Season, do you ever really think about The Cross? This time of the year, we have cantatas and musicals that talk about The Cross, but do we ever consider The Cross?
Is there a Message in The Cross for us? How could an event that happened more than 2,000 years ago have a message for me? The struggles of Jesus on The Cross should have a message for all of us. The key is that The Cross was not the end, but the beginning. When Jesus died on The Cross, it was the beginning. In 1 Corinthians 1:18, it says" the message of The Cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." The Cross has meaning for all of us. It is about a choice.
First, Jesus Christ died for YOU. He took all our sins and died so that we could have "life more abundantly." He chose to take the punishment for sin. He paid the debt He did not owe.
Secondly, we have a choice to choose Life. The gift of Life is Christ. You can make a decision to follow Jesus as Lord.
It is time to "take up our cross and follow Jesus." When we follow Christ in this way, the message of The Cross is that you can have LIFE!
